The floor-laying robot
Autolay is a floor-laying robot that installs tile and parquet on the building site — measuring and setting every piece autonomously, to within 1/32 in.
What is a floor-laying robot?
A floor-laying robot is a mobile machine that lays floor covering by itself: it locates each tile or plank and sets it in place — the work a tiler or parquet layer does by hand, done by a machine.
It is not a cleaning robot and not a warehouse vehicle. Autolay's robot is built for one job: installing new flooring on real construction sites, room by room.
How the Autolay robot lays a floor
The robot turns a digital floor plan into a finished floor in four steps:
- Plan: your floor plan becomes an optimized, low-waste layout of every tile and cut.
- Position: the robot localizes itself in the room to within 1/32 in.
- Measure: each piece is measured against the walls, corners and doorways it has to meet.
- Set: every piece is placed exactly where the plan puts it.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a floor-laying robot?
- A floor-laying robot is a machine that installs floor covering autonomously — locating and setting each tile or plank on site. Autolay's robot lays tile and parquet on real building sites to within 1/32 in, the work a tiler normally does by hand.
- Can a robot lay tile and parquet?
- Yes. Autolay's robot measures each piece against the room and sets it on the planned layout — for both tile and parquet.
- How accurate is the floor-laying robot?
- It positions itself and each piece to within 1/32 in, following a layout optimized for minimum waste before a single piece is laid.
