How do I get a cut list for laying laminate?

Lay the room in the free Autolay planner and download the plan: the PDF contains a cut list with every cut piece – its laying number, length and width in millimeters and its row – and the project download adds the same list as a CSV file.

A cut list turns the laying plan into work at the saw: which piece, how long, how wide, and where it goes. The planner writes it from the plan itself, so each entry matches a numbered piece on the drawing.

Full planks need no cutting and are only counted, which keeps the list short. Pieces at walls that should be measured on site rather than cut in advance are marked as such.

How it works, step by step

  1. Bring in the room. Upload the floor plan or type the room's sides, and set the scale.
  2. Enter the plank. Pick the laminate or type the plank's length and width. Under the layout settings you can set the saw kerf, the minimum cut length and the minimum width of the last row.
  3. Generate the plan. The planner lays every plank and numbers the pieces in laying order.
  4. Download the PDF. The PDF holds the to-scale plan, the shopping list and the cut list: laying number, piece, type, length and width in millimeters and row for every cut piece.
  5. Take the CSV to the saw. The project download (ZIP) adds the cut list as a CSV file, which opens in any spreadsheet.

What it does not do

  • The sizes follow the plan you drew; real walls are rarely perfectly straight, so check the first pieces of each row against the room before cutting a batch.
  • Pieces marked to measure on site are deliberately left for the tape measure.
  • The list does not replace the expansion gap at the walls – keep it as the plan shows.
  • Herringbone and chevron pieces are cut at angles; the list gives their finished size, not the saw angle.

How do I get a cut list for laying laminate?
Lay the room in the free Autolay planner from a floor plan or typed measurements, then download the PDF. It contains a cut list with every cut piece: its laying number, length and width in millimeters and its row. The project download adds the same list as a CSV file.
Does it account for the saw blade?
Yes. The saw kerf is a setting, and the planner charges it at every cut, so an off-cut is never planned longer than the saw leaves it.
Do I need an account to download it?
No. The PDF downloads straight from the result, with no account and no e-mail address.
Does the list show where each piece goes?
Yes. Each laying number in the list is printed on the matching piece of the plan, and the list gives its row.
